What matters in the process
A decanter separates by centrifugal sedimentation and conveys settled solids with a scroll. A screw press uses a slowly moving screw and a filtering structure to drain and compress conditioned sludge. Different shear conditions and drainage mechanisms mean the same polymer and dose may not be optimum for both. Maintenance items, wash demand, noise and space also differ by design.
A practical example
Compare a common 200 kg/h dry-solids duty. Record active polymer per tonne of dry solids, cake quantity, solids lost in the liquid and measured package power. If one trial operates at lower solids capture, its apparent reduction in cake mass is not necessarily better dewatering. The lost solids may return to the treatment process.
What to check or specify
- Test the same sludge over a representative period.
- Normalize chemical use to active polymer and dry solids.
- Check centrate or filtrate return load.
- Include cleaning water and cake conveyor requirements.
Turn the result into a decision
The supplied HUADA catalogue describes both centrifuge-based packages and a DL screw-press option. Specify the project objectives first, then compare the appropriate configurations. State which auxiliaries are included so a machine-only quote is not compared with a complete system price.
Equipment context: supplied HUADA English catalogue, PDF pages 56–59. Numerical examples are illustrative calculations. Application guidance must be confirmed for the actual material and selected equipment.
