Hazardous-area information required in a centrifuge RFQ

A hazardous-area project needs a defined site classification and process hazard assessment before a supplier can confirm the required equipment configuration. A generic explosion-proof description is insufficient. The centrifuge package includes electrical and mechanical equipment, seals, instruments and interfaces whose requirements must be coordinated.

What matters in the process

State the substances, atmosphere, temperature and operating conditions relevant to the installation. Identify the applicable conformity route and required documentation with the responsible project specialists. An appropriately rated motor alone does not establish conformity of the complete package. Mechanical ignition sources and process containment may also need consideration.

A practical example

Two projects handling the same solvent can require different configurations because their operating envelopes, installation areas and containment arrangements differ. Copying an existing equipment list can therefore omit important requirements. Supply the classification documents and expected operating states, including cleaning and shutdown conditions.

What to check or specify

  • Provide the site classification and responsible engineering contact.
  • Identify process substances and temperature limits.
  • Define required equipment marking and documents.
  • Include instruments, drives and auxiliaries in the scope review.

Turn the result into a decision

Ask for a compliance matrix for the actual quotation and verify supporting evidence with qualified project personnel. Do not publish a universal ATEX or similar certification claim for all HUADA models unless the exact equipment and scope are supported by current documents.

Equipment context: supplied HUADA English catalogue, PDF pages 12, 23–31, 45. Numerical examples are illustrative calculations. Application guidance must be confirmed for the actual material and selected equipment.
