What matters in the process
Dynamic behaviour is influenced by mass distribution, support stiffness, isolation devices and process imbalance. Rigid piping or unsuitable connections can bypass an intended isolation arrangement. Maintenance access, cover travel, lifting routes and solids discharge need to coexist with the support design. The supplier and site structural designer should work from a consistent load and layout basis.
A practical example
A centrifuge may fit within a plan-view footprint but lack the height needed to open a cover or lift a bag. A flexible connector may be specified but constrained by nearby pipework. These issues are easier to correct during design than after the equipment arrives.
What to check or specify
- Obtain operating, static and dynamic load information.
- Review foundation or platform design with the site engineer.
- Include cover travel, lifting and maintenance envelopes.
- Coordinate flexible connections and discharge interfaces.
Turn the result into a decision
Use an approved general arrangement drawing rather than a promotional image for installation. Ask which load cases and support assumptions apply to the quotation. Confirm that vibration monitoring and its protective responses are part of the agreed machine design.
