What matters in the process
Distinguish the machine envelope, installation envelope and maintenance envelope. The latter may include open covers, rotor removal or filter-bag lifting. Packing, preservation and handling instructions must match the selected configuration and journey. Site access routes, floor capacity and lifting equipment should be checked against the approved shipment and installation documents.
A practical example
A catalogue machine dimension may exclude a floating platform or discharge screw. An estimate based on that number can understate the freight volume or crane requirement. Ask for a packing list identifying each case and for the general arrangement showing installed interfaces.
What to check or specify
- Request net and gross weights for each shipping unit.
- Obtain packed dimensions and lifting instructions.
- Check site access and maintenance clearance.
- Confirm loose items, preservation and storage requirements.
Turn the result into a decision
Use confirmed project drawings for logistics booking and site preparation. Catalogue values are useful during early comparison but remain configuration-dependent. Do not assume that changing the motor, support structure or discharge arrangement leaves the shipment size and centre of gravity unchanged.
